South African farmers live with the threat of farm attacks on a daily basis. Despite the fact that the latest statistics – as has been the case every other year – are shocking, government is still refusing to officially handle farm attacks and farm murders as priority crimes. AfriForum brings hope by creating safety structures to improve the safety of people living on farms.
The civil rights organisation’s latest statistics also indicate that farm attacks are on the increase, while farm murders are decreasing – which suggests that farming communities are becoming more resilient. AfriForum has also launched comprehensive awareness, safety, prevention and support campaigns locally, nationally and internationally.
